The New Guy on Glee: A closer look at Chord Overstreet

And yes, that's his real name, not a stage name!  Hailing from Nashville and being the son of a Country music star from a young age he was encouraged to follow his love and passion for music; And lucky for us he did.   His adorably geeky demeanor, great voice, and guitar playing ability make him the perfect addition to our quirky Glee club and a perfect rival for Finn not only in the choir room but on the football field as well!  This is what Overstreet had to say about his role on Glee:

"You kind of have to stay in good shape. I actually signed that in my contract. It was all about having to have one or two shirts off scenes for every episode. I'm like the Taylor Lautner of TV now."

What's most interesting about Sam (Chord's character) is  wondering how his sexuality will pout on the show.  Originally, it seemed that he would be a mate for our Kurt but recently we see a romance starting with him and Quinn?  What?!  Somehow though I don't feel that this relationship is the end of our Sam's journey for love on the show.  I for one am excited about Chord joining the cast and looking forward to seeing what happens with his character Sam. Offscreren the 21 year old has been linked to a recently single Rumor Willis.  Also, Chord will be starring in the upcoming flick Warrior (2011) alongside the Twilight duo of Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene.  Check out Chord performing alongside Dianna Agron in just about the cutest performance of Lucky" (try not to swoon too hard! SO cute!).

The Captain is Back: Chris Pine in New Issue of Details Magazine

With the release of his new film Unstoppable right around the corner (Nov. 12) here are some new pics that just surfaced that will be featured in the upcoming issue of Details  magazine of Chris Pine.  Pine is looking all sorts of rugged in the new pics for Details.   News about Pine has been pretty quiet since he blew up as Captain Kirk in J.J. Abrams reinvention of Star Trek.   Let me assure you though, that won't be the last we'll be hearing of Pine.  He's got tons of stuff in the works and the sequel to Star Trek should be out in 2012!  But for now here is a preview of what's to come in the upcoming issue of Details.

GLEE Execs Not Gleeful About Mark Salling Pursuing Own Music Career

So if you're as big of a GLEE fan as I am you were probably somewhat surprised that Puck (Mark Salling) was strangely absent from the show this week (10/12).  Mr. Shuster gives us an abrupt and awkward reason as to why Puck is gone.  He tells us that Puck is in Juvenile Hall for causing some mischief.  The scene is clearly forced and feels super uncomfortable, and now we know why.  The badass, guitar playing crooner from Glee may permanently be off of the hit show!  The head hanchos at Glee felt it disrespectful for Salling to take a greater interest in his jazz fusion band Jericho rather than the show.  They may consider it a breach of contract.  I feel as though this is a poor decisions by both parties.  His character will certainly be missed from the show and feel a little empty and it just doesn't seem like a smart career choice on Mark's behalf to strain a relationship that has made you part of one of the most popular shows on television and a Pop-Culture phenomenon!   There are however other reports saying that this isn't the case stating, "It's all incorrect. Of course Mark is still on the show, he just wasn't in that episode." Is this true or is something shady going on?  What do you guys think?  How do you guys feel about Sallings character Puck possibly not being part of our beloved Glee club anymore?  Sound off with your comments!

Reunited and it Feels So Good: Hangover 2 Cast Reunion

It's a damn shame when a sequel is made solely based on the high grossing income of original film. It's clear to see why big box office hits have sequels instantly greenlit and while this often happens, rarely is it a good thing. Once again, this seems to be the case for The Hangover.  The plot set to take place in Thailand, the plot will consist of the four amigos played by Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha attempting to piece together the events of the night before to figure out how Stu (Ed Helms character) ends up sleeping with a Thai transvestite.  So is it me or does this sound just awful?  We'll see what happens but sadly films like the first Hangover are pure gold and hard to come by!  Much like the first Transformers film, there was magic there that just couldn't be duplicated  in the sequel.  It is yet to be seen if this is the case with the Hangover sequel.  The film will have director Todd Phillips back on board and is set to be released May of 2011.  Take a first look at The Hangover 2 cast reuniting here!

La Roux: Better Slower?

I fell in love with the strange, eighties sounding, rooster haired looking group a while back with their powerful, spunky sounding pop and unique vocals.  La Roux recently released their single In for the Kill along with a new video.  Now it goes without saying that the video is outrageous and the song is catchy as hell but then I came across a remixed Dubstep version of the song and really dug it!  A lot of you that watch Entourage may recognize fit from the most recent season's soundtrack.  Dubstep, is mainly a UK music style. It's a trend that started back in the eighties that consists of a strong bass line and a very slowed down instrumentals with few vocals.  Initially, this may not seem very appealing and I would have to agree.   I feel as though his would not work on just any song but Elly, the face and voice of the group has haunting vocals  that really stand out and are a perfect match for this down tempoed beat.  Check out the new song and the dubstep version here and see which one you wanna rock out to.

Movie Reviews: Facebook Edition

Catfish (B): This amazingly simple indie film done by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost offers a great and meaningful message.  The film which stars Yaniv (Nev) Schulamn Ariels' brother,  and his quest to meet Megan, a young woman who he has been having a relationship with for several month now over Facebook.  Yaniv first comes into contact with Megan after her younger half sister Abbey begins sending Nev photos that she has painted of his photography and they become pen pals.  Megan and Nev has this incredible connection and Nev feels that if all the elements fall into place that it would turn into an instant relationship.  However, one night while Meg and Nev are talking she begins sending him music she's recorded for him.  It turns out that these are other people's songs and she is deceiving Yaniv into thinking she is something that she is not.  Nev hurt and angered by this news has a newly fueled desire to meet Meg and see wat else she's lying about.  While on a trip to shoot a dance event in Colorado Nev and his brother Ariel and Henry decide that it is time for Nev to meet Megan and get it on film.  When Nev and the rest of the crew dig beneath the surface they discover much more than they ever could have imagined.  What's so fascinating about this film is that while the inherent message that people aren't who they say they are doesn't just apply to Facebook but in person as well.  There is always more to someone than what meets the eye; Not that this is necessarily a bad thing.  Another great thing about this is a lot of us by now take for granted that over e-mails or Facebook that we're talking to the exact person we see.  The film is definitely worth seeing and surprisingly entertaining for only having Nev as the main focus for the majority of the film.

The Social Network (A-): This fast paced, snippy dialogued film by David Fincher will have your head spinning from the opening dialogue between Rooney Mara and Jesse Eisenberg until the end credits.  The film really is riveting!  I was left wanting more by the end.  Which of course is a good but a little unsatisfying at the same time.  The script by Aaron Sorkin is wonderfully written and executed So well by Eisenberg as snarky Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.  The only problem I had with the dialogue was that at time it came off almost forced as if the actors were purposefully trying to have each word drip with bite and disdain.  Other than that I haven't had a movie experience like that in a long time!  I was engaged from start to finish and overwhelmed with the kind of emotion that lies behind the founding a business.  Along with a fantastic story the plot was driven by a hard hitting pulsing score laid out for us by Trent Rezner.  Eisenberg along with our upcoming Spider Man Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake gave wonderful performances.  Rooney Mara was impressive as well and may just have the chops to play the lead of Lisbeth in the Girl With the Dragon Tatoo afterall.  Another great surprise was were the Winklevoss brothers (Armie Hammer, Josh Pence) who added a lot of comedic energy to the film.  The Social Network is quite the theatrical ride and an experience you won't regret.  All in all it is easy to see why it is already an early Oscar contender.  One thing that is certain, after seeing both films I definitely have a whole new view on Facebook.

Rosario Dawson Comments on Weight and the Industry

Actress Rosario Dawson (Clerks 2, Josie and the Pussycat dolls, Seven Pounds) recently stated in an interview,

"I'm on the East Coast a lot and I feel uber skinny and super young. I come to California and I feel fat and old. I'm 31, I'm starting to get old. I'm not emaciated. The amount of times I've been told to lose weight is unbelievable, I kid you not."
So why is this still an ongoing trend in Hollywood?  It seems that as time has progressed and were moving away from the uber skinny chick playing the lead role and that curvier women were getting more rolls on screen and television.  However, with Dawson's recent comment and also with a very skinny Lea Michele popping up recently, it seems that's no the case.

Another question that this brings up though, is it just the industry or could this be an East Coast West coast rivalry that we have on our hands?  Is it more acceptable to have some weight on while on the East Coast and not on the West Coast?  It seems that people on the West coast don't just "show a little skin" but rather "a little bone" too.  There is also the fact that people on the West Coast are more athletic and active due to the abundance of sunshine they receive!  What do you guys think about skinny being in...does it plague the industry??

I was fortunate enough to meet Rosario while celebrating at the Wrap party for her upcoming film Unstoppable with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, and I must say she definitely does NOT need to lose any weight.   She is just as beautiful on the inside as on the outside and was a joy to meet.  Rosario is continually involved in activism in the Latino community as well as the United Way and Immigration Reform and I commend her for speaking out these issues.

I Am Number Four Soon to Become Number One "Tween" Craze

Harry Potter...Twilight...I Am Number Four?  Are you guys ready for the next big tween craze to hit theaters?  I know I am!  So Aliens, that look like humans, are being hunted down by some mysterious force from their home planet and have come to Earth to escape.  At least we have clean water here...or not.  I must say I was definitely skeptical when I heard the plot.  There didn't seem to be much there and with newcomer Alex Pettyfer to take the lead and carry the movie also worried me. However, after this recent teaser trailer I must say I was blown away!  I'm intrigued and gotta say that this looks truly fascinating.  Also, now more than ever, am I compelled to read the book before the film comes out in February.  What do you guys think, will you see it?  Check out the trailer here!
